Analytic Cycling Logo Tire Data Analysis

With some data collected we can do an analysis.

The analysis returns a selection from the Tires database and/or a selection from the Mishaps database. Use the input form at the right to select the information you want to see.

You may receive either or both as tab-delimited flat files which you can use to do your own analysis. Such files are easily read into Excel.

We are a little skimpy on analysis so far. This is partly because we really don't know yet what the data will look like or what analysis will turn out to be useful.

If you want, you may enter fictitious data for the "Test Tire, Give-It-a-Try, 700-23, Tubular" test tire to see how this works.

The analysis returns a table of statistical parameters based on the mileage of the selected mishaps. A confidence interval for the mean of the data is provided. A histogram of the data follows the table.

Hint: When doing an analysis we often find it convenient to open two browser windows. In one do an analysis of say tubulars. In the other do an analysis for clinchers. This gives a lot of flexibility on how one looks at the data.

We wrote this topic as a Java servlet. It uses a Postgres database. The servlet uses webMathematica for data analysis. webMathematica is an HTMLSevlet-based interface to Mathematica technical computing language.
